JDMphasis... Innovation over Imitation
To select automotive enthusiasts, "JDM" is more than just an acronym for Japanese Domestic Market. JDM is not simply rare parts. It is a way of life. A culture. A modus vivendi. JDM is a lifestyle.

Project Z33: This Color!
As I have blogged in the past, once my aero arrives from Japan (It will be 6 months in less than two weeks!), the plan is to wrap the car in a matte blue finish. I really like the factory Daytona Blue of Nissan, so I do not want to stray too far from that, but I do want to do a matte finish. Plus, keeping the color a similar blue to factory will not make the door jambs, sills, and engine bay look too awkward or 'unfinished.'
I have been searching the web for good examples of the blue that I want and have found the following pictures. Some of these pictures are not the best quality and, in others, the lighting seems a bit off, but I think this shade and finish is the basic idea of what I would like to do. I am looking forward to this part of the project.
Sharp S2K with some Voltex aero and TE37SL rollers...
This appears to be a bit too teal for my taste, but I am not sure if that is just the light...
A closer look at a matte blue finish on an Audi… I really like this.
I love this beast!

HKS GT Supercharger - Arvou Honda S2000
This video is a few months old, but, if you haven't seen it, it is a pretty good watch. It may make you want to head out for a cruise. It may make you want to own an HKS GT-supercharged S2000. It may make you want both… Enjoy.

Diffused Bruise
Black & Blue S2Ks...
In the hopes that I will stumble upon that captivating JDM styling cue that unites me with my next project, I have recently found myself attracted to a few different platforms. Still undecided, I am toying with a few different possibilities, but among those potential future projects is the S2000. Here are a few shots of some nicely-done S2Ks... (The black S has been a favorite of mine for quite some time.)

Amusing Photography...
My compulsion towards the parts of the Japanese Domestic Market is not based on a personal assessment of performance superiority. It is about design, quality, and attention to detail. Likely my biggest obsession of the industry, Power House Amuse is quite possibly the superlative of JDM parts. Hardly boring or run-of-the-mill, the products that come out of their facility in Chiba are not simply functional components to be admired momentarily pre-installation only to be forsaken shortly after brusque acknowledgment of any performance benefit or gain. Every Amuse part contains an all-too-real element of genuine automotive artistry.

YeS2K
What looks to be a Mugen hardtop, aggressive red Volk TEs, Tamon Design rear spoiler, Craft Square mirrors, and a Spoon rear diffuser earn this S2000 two thumbs-up.

Project G37S: Drawing Inspiration from the BULLETPROOF S2000
Deviating momentarily from the relatively long, rant-type posts of late, I'd like to share a few pictures that were sent to me from Ben Schaffer (Bespoke Ventures/Bulletproof Automotive). Ben has proven to be an invaluable resource, not only in the obvious regard of assisting me with parts for my project, but in fueling my enthusiasm, passion, and intrigue into the Japanese Domestic Market, and this industry.
That said, I have been discussing with Ben the next stage of Project G37S. I am looking into changing the aesthetics of the G. I am not married to any particular modification route presently, so it has been fun throwing ideas back and forth, imagining the possibilities, and picturing the potential final product. Consistent with the theme of this project, I am hoping to separate myself from the pack with these future modifications.
Illuminating the road taken with his S2000, Ben sent me the following images. Like many, I had seen this car before. However, the viewing experience is altered now as I reflect upon and consider the different possible outcomes for the G. This car is inspiring, to say the least.

Personally, I prefer this car on the Top Secret Limited Edition TE37's.
(If you couldn't tell from the pictures, we were discussing what to do with the rear of the G.)
